Chief of Staff Office of the CMO/Sr Director

Reporting to the CMO, the Chief of Staff to the Office of the CMO will provide support to the CMO to coordinate and prioritize all operational aspects of the global marketing team, including the Sales Development team. This includes working very closely with the CMO and her team to drive the priorities for the business, work through critical issues, document and set shared goal with cross-functional organizational leaders, and accumulate required information for the executive to facilitate efficient decision making. The person will be very proficient in crafting executive reports, presentations and communication for the SLT and executive leadership team.

Core Responsibilities

Provide support in the area of marketing strategy and management.

Create an institutional and system-wide marketing reporting function that can supervise, measure and analyze performance.

Provide marketing skills and expertise to the company by building and developing the vital marketing strategies and tactics to support the company’s goals.

Help to create and then coordinate all high-level marketing goals and accountable owners with monthly and quarterly reviews and checkpoints

Ensure all marketing communications are coordinated, support marketing plan objectives and are an effective expenditure of resources.

Prepare presentations to explain the company’s current and strategic directions.

Be a key bridge from leadership to the rest of the marketing organization, conveying and ensuring successful communication and implementation of critical initiatives.

Communicate priorities, activities, and results to the larger organization, while ensuring results are met. Have a strong pulse and feedback loop on organizational needs.

Identify and tackle ad-hoc strategic projects from defining new opportunities to executing key initiatives, and closing the gaps within the marketing team.

Acts as the liaison between the CMO and other executives, constituents and customers to ensure consistent communication and ensuring involvement or decision-making

Partner closely with Finance to develop the financial plan needed to support the annual marketing plan and strategies, tactics and resources vital to achieve goals.

Education and/or Experience

Prior experience leading a marketing function, department and/or reporting to a CMO is a plus.

Bachelor’s Degree (MBA preferred) in a relevant field and/or ten or more years’ proven experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Skills And Abilities

Passion for B2B enterprise marketing, open source, and SaaS business models.

Strong understanding of all areas of marketing: communications, field and regional marketing, product marketing, community, customer advocacy, digital demand generation, international marketing, and partner marketing.

Strong technical and or functional product background is a plus. Elastic’s products and solutions are highly technical and the ability to understand the concepts will be highly valuable to effectively working with cross-functional teams.
